The Department of English arranged a view exchange!- program with Prof. Dr. Arifa Rahman, Institute of Modern Languages, University of Dhaka on June 04, 2016 in room no. 609 at Surma Tower of Leading University. Prof. Dr. Qumruzzaman Chowdhury was present in the program as Chief Guest and delivered his valuable speech. Registrar of Leading University Lt. Col. Munir Ahmed Quadery was present and delivered his speech. Muhammad Nazrul Islam, Head (Acting) of the Department of English, delivered welcome speech. All the faculty members of English Department were present in the program. The senior students of English Department also attended the program and took part in the lively Q&A session. The view exchange program was anchored by Mrs. Rumpa Sharmin, Assistant Professor of English Department.
As Guest of Honour, Prof. Dr. Arifa Rahman in her speech expressed her earnest desire to work with the Department of English at Leading University. Prof. Arifa Rahman expressed her desire to sign an MoU among Leading University-Bangladesh English Language Teachers’ Assosiation (BELTA)- Teachers Helping Teachers (THT) Program. Prof. Arifa Rahman shared her willingness to arrange THT’s next teachers training program in September 2016 at Leading University which will be a big event for BELTA’s Sylhet Chapter.
Before the view exchange program, Prof. Arifa Rahman had two separate meetings with the Honorable Vice Chancellor of Leading University and faculty members of English Department.
Prof. Dr. Arifa Rahman has a prolific career of teaching expanding to nearly 40 years. She is Teacher Educator, Curriculum Developer, Materials Writer, Researcher, Reviewer, Editor, Academic Publisher. She has more than 45 publications in academic journals and books at national and international levels. She has presented nearly 85 papers at international and national conferences, several times as invited keynote, plenary and featured speaker. Her areas of interest are teacher education, classroom methodology, testing and assessment, developing learner independence and ELT research. Dr Arifa Rahman’s passion is working through BELTA for teacher development.
