Bachelor of Architecture (Leading University)

Burhan Uddin is a Lecturer in the Department of Architecture at Leading University, Sylhet. He completed his Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) from Leading University, where his design thesis was titled "Architecture of Islamic Learning: Design of a Kamil Madrasa Campus in Osmaninagar, Sylhet, Bangladesh"

As a member of the faculty, he is involved in conducting a broad spectrum of courses, with a particular focus on Architectural History, Computer Graphics, and Architectural Design Studios, while also contributing to various technical, theoretical, and communication-based modules within the department.

Area of Study

His scholarly focus is primarily on the historical and theoretical development of architecture in South Asia, with a specific emphasis on documenting and preserving regional heritage.

Indo-Islamic Architectural History and Theory

Islamic Architecture of Bengal

Islamic Epigraphy, Semiotics, and Ornamentation

Theology of Space & Madrasa Typologies

 

Current Research Project: 

Documenting the Architecture and Archaeology of Sultanate Structures of Islamic Learning: A Case Study of Dargahbari, Sonargaon; supported by the Leading University CRISP (Center for Research, Innovative Studies and Planning) Research Grant (FY 2025-2026).
